Resetting our Minds

Happy new month! For a while now, I’ve found myself thinking about the vicious cycles that we go through . Like the habits that we would really like t do away with but no matter how hard we try, it just seems really hard to break free. And after a long while we accept that we cannot break free and decide to own the habits by saying stuff like “that’s the way I am” and “I guess I’ll never change. This is how God created me.” What we do nor realize is that there had been a battle in our minds between good and evil and by accepting to stay as we are, the enemy wins and he’s now on a mission to ensure that he keeps your mind in bondage for as long as you live.

The Lies that We Have Believed

The devil has studied humans for years now and he understands that the battle is in our MINDS. So he will often plant a thought when we fail or make mistakes by telling us that can never make it, we are failures, we’re not good enough. Once he introduces that thought, many times we believe the lie and own it.

Many people that have believed  certain lies for so long tend to have a hard time believing anything that is contrary to what they know. For example if a person grows up believing that nobody loves and cares for them, it is difficult for them to accept the love of God and others because in this person’s mind, the lie still exists.

However, we need to be released from slavery of the mind. We have to give the enemy an eviction notice and kick him out.

Just how are we going to do that?

This month I thought of starting a 28 day challenge that we’ll call the mind transformation month. And we are basically going to ask the Lord to deal with our minds. Changes in our lives can only come from our minds being set free from the chains that have held us back and we have not been aware. The scripture to stand on is Romans 12:2 that says that And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

For the next 28 days we must wrestle for the release of our minds. So where we have been negative and allowed the lies to consume, we must begin by repenting. Thereafter we must ask the Lord to reveal His truth to us through the Holy Spirit who is the spirit of truth (John 14:17).

We must ask Him to deal with our minds and to consume every lie that is in existence in our minds. Friends, it is going to be a battle because the enemy does not want to you be free because he knows that once you know the truth you are a threat to his kingdom.

So expect resistance because he will fight for the territory that he has had for so long. How to fight the enemy is by countering his lies with the truth that is in the word  of God. Read your Bible everyday, meditate on the word of God, pray without ceasing. Of importance is to put on the full armour of God every day according to Ephesians 6:10-20

Whenever an old lie comes up, declare the word of God that silences the lies. For example if the enemy whispers in a thought that you cannot do it, declare that, “according to the word of God, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it (John 1:8).

When you are discouraged, ask the Lord to strengthen and to encourage you. As He leads, some may have to go into a fast.

We can only be free when our minds are free from the grip of your adversary the devil. By freeing our minds from the devil’s hold, many will find themselves walking in their divine destinies because the reason he has bound you is that he doesn’t want you to reach purpose.

I welcome you to join me in this challenge. Let us ask the Lord to free us so that we can walk in the fullness of that which He has planned for us.
