One of the things that fascinates me about the God we serve is how such a great God can be so intimately involved and interested in the lives of His people. To be honest, when I got saved, that was and continues to what awes me about God. Can you imagine He is the God who knows the number of strands on our heads. There are almost 10 billion people in the world (if not more) yet God has these figures in His mind.
This post is dedicated to listing down the names as well as attempt to also provide His characteristics, yet we can never completely exhaust this topic because there are so many unknown things about Him. That is how great the God we serve is.
I have been studying the OT and will list down what I have gathered so far from the book Genesis. God is:
- Elohim (The Creator) ~ Genesis 1
- Our Deliverer ~ Genesis 14: 20
- Adonai El Elyon (The LORD Most High God) ~ Genesis 14:22
- Adonai – The Sovereign Lord (Genesis 15:2)
- El roi (the God who sees me) ~ Genesis 16:14
- El Shaddai (God almighty)~ Genesis 17:1
- The God of Abraham’s descendants ~ Genesis 17:1
- El Olam (The eternal God) ~ Genesis 21:33
- Jehovah Jireh (The God who provides) ~ Genesis 22:14
I am hoping to turn this into a series as I continue to study the books of the Old Testament and post the various names of God as I come across them.
