The book of John fascinates me. To be honest, the entire Bible is a masterpiece,but John particularly stands out for me because it details the life of Jesus (His life is also captured in the 3 other books of the Gospel). While not every detail of His life is captured what’s written down blows my mind!
One thing that caught my attention about Jesus is his industrious nature. Have you noticed how Jesus was always busy? Either He was performing miracles like turning water into wine, raising the dead, healing the sick, preaching the gospel from one place to another or praying. But He never just sat and did nothing. He understood His mission, that time was short and alot needed to be done. This challenges me alot!
If you are yet to study this particular book, take the time it’s worth it. Might I add that time spent studying the word of God is never in vain.
The name above every other name
Let’s talk about the name of Jesus. My question to us today is:
- What does the name of Jesus mean to you as a believer?
- Do we understand the power of the name of Jesus?
- Do we call upon the name of Jesus when trouble knocks?
- Do we understand the power of the blood of Jesus? That it cleanses,heals, saves,redeems,delivers?
Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Luke 10:17, 19 NKJV
Feeling weighed down?
So why do we believers walk as if we are powerless? Why aren’t we doing exploits for the Kingdom of God? Why are we not enforcing the authority that Jesus gave to us? Why are we not influencing the culture of the world but allow the culture to influence us?
We are walking in defeat as Christians because we do not know how to wage war using the name of Jesus. We haven’t yet grasped the power of the name and the blood of Jesus.But there is hope!!
And that hope is in the name of Jesus (of course!)
Victory is found in Jesus
Curses can only be broken in the name of Jesus, cycles are broken in His name, all blessings can be found in Him.
The Bible says that those that cal on the nam of the Lord shall be saved.( Romans 10:13)
Jesus wants us to know and understand how to apply this in order for us to be victorious as the children of God. He wants us to stop trying to do things on our own strength because that’s the reason that we are ineffective in our walk of salvation. Things will never change as long as we do things based on our own strength. It only leads to frustration.
If you don’t know where to start,ask the Holy Spirit yo teach you. He’s the greatest teacher and helper that there is because He only speaks that which He hears the father speak. He is a witness
Might I add that we are living in times of great deception. We cannot rely on our own limited sight to walk this journey of salvation, otherwise we will be deceived by Satan.
Lets look to Jesus as the author and finisher of our faith
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.~ Hebrews 12:1-2 NKJV
