Definition: A labor of love is labor voluntarily undertaken or performed without consideration of any benefit or reward (according to Merriam Webster dictionary).
Alright, let’s get into today’s post which like the title says is about a labor of love. When we love something (or someone) we tend to put in the work, right? There’s alot of tears, sweat and emotions that go into it. There will be good days and bad days, days when one feels discouraged and days when we have so much energy we overdo things (can you relate?)
Where am I going with this? You may be wondering?
See how you labor for things/people that you love? That’s how God wants us to labour for Him, especially when it comes to serving Him with our talents.
So… let’s examine ourselves today… What has God asked you to do but:
- You have felt like its too much work or you find it too time consuming.
- You’re more preoccupied with more “important” tasks
- Or maybe it has felt like its become a routine and you are bored with it so you end up doing it half heartedly.
Whatever the reason you may have, I pray that you get back that joy that once had in serving God through the talents He’s given you.
God placed the story of the widows offering on my heart when He was teaching me about this as recorded in Mark 12:41-44:
Mark 12:41-44 NLT ~ Jesus sat down near the collection box in the Temple and watched as the crowds dropped in their money. Many rich people put in large amounts. Then a poor widow came and dropped in two small coins. Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has given more than all the others who are making contributions. For they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she had to live on.”
It’s very easy to think that your offering (in terms of service) is very little especially when your giving it your all but it seems like no one else is noticing or even appreciating your efforts.
But keep giving your all because God sees it,He sees your heart that is purely serving. He says to keep going, it may seem little to others but to Him its a big deal. Now is not the time to get discouraged and give up.
Be encouraged child of God.

Update: I just love how God confirms His Word through the Bible ( His Word). As I’m doing a random Google search I came across this bible verse that speaks about this particular topic.
Thank you God for speaking to your children and ministering to me as well.
