This is the last post of the relationship series and I was asking God, “What do I tell your children with regards to having a relationship with you?” So when I opened my Bible, it happened to land on Jeremiah 33 (please take time and read the entire chapter) and I was attracted by the title Excellence of the Restored Nation (NKJV version).
I believe that the Holy Spirit gave me this chapter in order to let you know that we are now in a season of God restoring & rebuilding His children.
And How Exactly Is He Going to do That?
Moreover the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah a second time, while he was still shut up in the court of the prison, saying, “Thus says the Lord who made it, the Lord who formed it to establish it (the Lord is His name): ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’ (Jeremiah 33:1-3)
Now some of you feel like you are in a prison of sort. Maybe your life feels like its falling apart and you have tried everything but things are not working. I don’t know what it is that you are going through but while you are in that situation that feels like a prison God wants you to CALL OUT TO HIM. When you begin to call out to Him, He promises to ANSWER you and reveal to you His greatness and might because He will open the prison doors and get you out of that situation that wanted to keep you bound.
That prison your in is the result of disobedience and sin. All God wants you to do is call out to Him, and allow Him to come and do that which you have been able to do for yourself.
We develop a relationship with God when we acknowledge our sins and realize that we NEED Him so we repent and come into His Kingdom.
Let’s look at the promises that God has for us when we call unto Him:
1. He Promises to Heal Us
As a result of our sin, Satan has had legal ground on our lives but God in His word promises that when we call out to Him by repenting and turning from our old ways, He will heal us, give us, peace and truth.
Behold, I will bring it health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth. (Jeremiah 33:6)
2. He Promises to Rebuild Us
We never really realize how broken we are till we give our lives to Christ and He begins to uncover the things that we had buried. We can only be rebuilt when God destroys the foundations in our lives that are not of Him and He will then begin to REBUILD us in a manner that is in line with His will. We will begin to return to Him and He will set us free from things that have held us captive.
And I will cause the captives of Judah and the captives of Israel to return, and will rebuild those places as at the first. (Jeremiah 33:7)
3. He will Cleanse Us and Pardon our Sins
We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Do not be lied to that just because you are a “good” person you will make it to heaven. 1 John 1:8 reminds us that, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”
I will cleanse them from all their iniquity by which they have sinned against Me, and I will pardon all their iniquities by which they have sinned and by which they have transgressed against Me. (Jeremiah 33:8)
4. He Will Give Us Joy, Praise and Honor amongst Other Nations
When God restores us, it trickles down to our families and our nations. He tells us that other nations will marvel at what God will do in our nation because we will prosper in all that we do, our land will produce the very best, our flock will increase in number, he will revive everything that had died in our land.
Then it shall be to Me a name of joy, a praise, and an honor before all nations of the earth, who shall hear all the good that I do to them; they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and all the prosperity that I provide for it.’ (Jeremiah 33:9)
“Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘In this place which is desolate, without man and without beast, and in all its cities, there shall again be a dwelling place of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down. In the cities of the mountains, in the cities of the lowland, in the cities of the South, in the land of Benjamin, in the places around Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, the flocks shall again pass under the hands of him who counts them,’ says the Lord. ’ (Jeremiah 33:12-13)
5. He will increase us
As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, nor the sand of the sea measured, so will I multiply the descendants of David My servant and the Levites who minister to Me.’ (Jeremiah 33:22)
We are in a season of restored relationships, whether it’s family, friendships, courtship, marriage or our relationship with God, God is calling us into the right relationship.
And the most important relationship is making things right with Him by giving your life to Him and getting, so if you would like to give your life to Him and enjoy the benefits of restoration, please say this prayer out loud:
Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner in need of your forgiveness. I believe that you died on the Cross and rose again and by doing so you paid the ultimate penalty for my sins. I invite you into my life to be my Lord and Savior and to have your way in my life. I thank you that I am now a new creation. Amen
