Wrong Foundations

Well, hello hello! Welcome to the last quarter of the year!! I can’t believe how time has flown! Last week marked the 1st year since I started this blog and God has been so faithful! I just thank Him.

Today I want to talk about the wrong foundations in our lives because this is the area that God has been dealing with me on this past year and I believe He wants to do in all our lives.
A few months ago, I talked about the excellence of restored nation ( link here) but today I will only focus on the verse below:

Again I will build you, and you shall be rebuilt, O virgin of Israel! You shall again be adorned with your tambourines, And shall go forth in the dances of those who rejoice.Jeremiah 31:4 NKJV

When I wrote that post, I was excited with the promise that God was and continues to give us but What I didn’t understand at the time is that it is a process. Before something can be  rebuilt, there must be a demolition.

The old structure has to be torn down, and the old foundation destroyed in order for a new one to be set in place.

Which foundations have your life been built on

In construction, a foundation is defined as a lower portion of the building structure that transfers its gravity loads to the earth. Usually, tall buildings must have a strong foundation for them to stand for a long time.Only before a foundation is set, can construction begin. Same concept applies with God.
There are so many things that our lives have been built on that are based on the wrong foundation. And as much as God would want to, He cannot bless us if our foundation is wrong. So He must uproot, tear down, strip everything that’s not of Him in order for His foundation to be built up.

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:  and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. Matthew 7:24‭-‬25 NKJV

Zaccheus the Tax Collector
As I asked the Lord what to write about concerning this, He gave me the story of Zaccheus, the tax collector found in Luke 19:1-10. Zaccheus was a rich man who had made his wealth illegally. When Jesus went into his house, he realized that he had sinned by cheating others of their money and decided to give back 4 times what he had obtained under false pretenses as well as committing to give half of his possessions to the poor.

What caused Zaccheus to do this? He recognized that he had built his life and wealth on the wrong foundations.  He may or may never have realized this if Jesus had not visited him, which brings me to my next point: sin keeps us from seeing the wrong foundations in our lives. So we have to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to us the areas in our lives that have been built on the wrong foundations.

It may be the job you have, the car you drive, the house you live in, your marriage. Ask the Spirit of God to reveal to you what in your life is not built according to His plan.

God does not do shortcuts

He is a God of order. So therefore for Him to pour out His blessings, He must uproot the wrong things in our lives and build His foundation up. Like I said, it is a process and it will be a painful one because the flesh will not agree to it.

For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. Galatians 5:17 NKJV

Let’s allow God to deal with the things in our lives that do not honor Him. It may seem like we have a lot to lose, but it is nothing compared to the rewards we will receive from Him. Remember, He has good plans for His Children.
