I messed up

I don’t know about the rest of you but I have made a lot of mistakes in my life. And instead of owning up to my mistakes I refused to take responsibility for them. The person that came up with the 5 stages grief (denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance) must have been a genius(or he spent a lot of time studying human beings) because this stages describe what I’ve gone through for most of my life.

The Grace of Our Lord Jesus

To be honest, had it not been for the grace of God,I never would have gotten to this point. He has been so patient and kind, I continue to be in awe of Him.

As I have continued to read the Bible, it amazes me how this Book applies to all aspects of our lives. All of the revelations I have received have come from reading the Bible. So as I was reading,the Holy Spirit gave me new understanding on this topic of Grace.

Ephesians 2:4-6  KJV says that “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,  Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)  And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. “

God is a merciful God who is quick to forgive us if we confess our sins. It doesn’t matter what you have done, what “big” sin you feel you have committed, there is absolutely nothing that God cannot forgive. After all, in the eyes of God, there is no big or small sin, sin is sin, magnitude notwithstanding. John 1:9 says that “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Confession of our sins is a sign of humility, because it shows that we acknowledge our fallen nature and that we need to to  be reconciled with God..

Verse 10 goes on to say that “If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” Each and every single one of us is a sinner (Romans 3:23), therefore we cannot fool ourselves that we do not need to ask for forgiveness.  Every single day we need to ask God to “Search me, God, and know my heart;   test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting (Psalms 139:23-24) because the heart is desperately wicked (Jeremiah 17:9).

But no matter what, the Grace of God continues to abound through the blood of Jesus that cleanses and redeems us, then we are saved.

However, we should not abuse the grace that we enjoy by continuously sinning just because we know that if we confess we will be forgiven. When we confess our sins and are forgiven, we are required to completely turn away from the sins that that held us hostage and ask the Lord to help us to overcome the sin because on our own we are unable to.

In conclusion

It is important to note that if you have made a mistake and continue to keep it a secret, it still gives Satan room to continue tormenting you. It is vital that you identify someone (preferably a Christian who can keep it between the two of you and it should also be man-man/woman-woman)you can trust and confess to them, because we are told in James 5:16 to “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” A Christian will help you by praying for you as well as walking with you through the season because two are better than one. By confessing, you also disarm the enemy because He thrives in secrecy so he would like you to hide your mistakes. But by revealing your sin/mistake, it comes to light and the enemy can no longer thrive in the situation.

God is interested in cleaning up our mess, but we first begin the process by reconciling ourselves to Him through repentance and accepting Jesus into our lives. We then go to Him with our mistakes and leave them at His feet. He begins to remove the shame, guilt and condemnation because there is now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit (Romans 8:8).
